Family Portrait Session on Redemption Square Farm in Gautier, Mississippi

It was a warm September evening when the Gray family drove up to Redemption Square Farm in Gautier, Mississippi. I greeted them at the gate and shook everyone’s hands as they got out of their vehicles. It was two brothers, their wives, and their mother.

Everyone was smiling and excited to see the goats and sheep in the front pasture. The pigs ran up to the fence line to oink in greeting hoping for snacks. Chickens ran out into the back pasture to see who the newcomers were, and the ducks quacked from a distance.

We small talked about the farm and found people we knew in common. Cathy had went to school with my husband’s aunt. Small world.

I gave everyone a crash course on posing and led them to a shaded area to begin our session. They laughed and had a blast the entire time. If every session was this fun, everyone would want to be a photographer. The love they all shared between each other was a blessing to capture. I hope they always warmly remember the time we shared together.

May the Lord bless you with many more years together to celebrate the love you have together. May you celebrate the good times and forget the ones that weren’t. May the life you live be a testimony of the beauty and value of family to your children and grandchildren that come after you.

Family Portrait Session on Redemption Square Farm in Gautier, Mississippi

It was a beautiful July evening when the Taylor’s arrived at Redemption Square Farm in Gautier, Mississippi. The humidity was high but the summer heat was far cooler than usual this time of year. I had left my camera outside for thirty minutes before they arrived, so my lens wouldn’t fog. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to capture clear photos without prior planning during a Mississippi summer. Living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is exactly where I want to be, but it comes with unique challenges.

I had sent that style guide to Kelli, and she had dressed everyone accordingly. I was so impressed! She was a master of choosing complementary colors that made everyone look their best. Each person photographed so well. The kids were excited to see the animals, and I promised to make the session quick, fun, and easy. Promising a farm tour afterwards is ALWAYS a good bartering chip with kids.

Everyone had fun, even the parents. Haha! I think the photos do a good job telling the story of how much they love each other and how much they have to be thankful for.

May God bless you as you do ministry and life together. May you remember the joy you share. May the laughter between you bind you together. May your good memories be long and the sorrowful ones short. May you always remember the kindness God has shown you, and may you share His love with the world you meet.

Family Portrait Session | Redemption Square Farm, Gautier, MS

It was a blazing hot Sunday evening. We had scheduled the shoot as late as we reasonably could to avoid the fiercest heat of the day. I knew going into the shoot that we would have to work hard and fast or the kids would wilt before we got started. As everyone arrived, we moved over to some of my favorite places on Redemption Square Farm to take Golden Hour photos and we began our shoot.

The kids were a little unsure about what was going to happen. I made some corny jokes and tried to act extra silly to warm them up. No success. They were not fans of the heat. The adults looked nervously at each other. No one wants a failed photo shoot. I assured them it would be okay, and we kept going.

I put my energy into the adults. The more they loosened up and had fun, the more the kids did. It was contagious. The happiness and fun was spilling over. The kids started sharing in the magic that was happening. The more one family enjoyed themselves the more it amplified. Love grew. Joy overflowed. Memories were made. Family heirloom photographs were created.

Y’all, my heart is so full. I LOVE getting to do what I do. Photography is my favorite form of art, because it captures the souls of people. This family was beautiful!

It was an absolute honor working with them. They were so full of personality and life. I pray these images will be a treasure for the coming years. I pray they see the love they have between them. I pray they remember their shared laughs- not their tears. I pray that joy will bind them together. What a beautiful legacy it will be!
