Family Portrait Session on Redemption Square Farm in Gautier, Mississippi

Family is so special. These cousins went out of their way to plan this photo session and capture all of their children together on our farm. Taking photos of 6 small children is no easy feat, but these mommas were prepared. They brought snacks, bubbles, popsicles… let’s just say the works! They even arrived early to the session. I was so impressed!

The sun was warm and radiant just like the kids I was capturing. The energy at this session was vibrant and fun. These photos speak for themselves. There was life, laughter, and lots of love. I hope these photos help these moms remember the joy and energy of this stage of life for years to come.

Of course, we made time to take some portraits of the beautiful moms too.

I pray that these photos remember you to cherish the bond you have together, the love you share, and the children who call you mom and aunt. I pray you remember the laughter, the messy fun, and the sweet days together. I pray these memories we have made together on our farm make life all the richer for you.

Family Portrait Session | Redemption Square Farm, Gautier, MS

It was a blazing hot Sunday evening. We had scheduled the shoot as late as we reasonably could to avoid the fiercest heat of the day. I knew going into the shoot that we would have to work hard and fast or the kids would wilt before we got started. As everyone arrived, we moved over to some of my favorite places on Redemption Square Farm to take Golden Hour photos and we began our shoot.

The kids were a little unsure about what was going to happen. I made some corny jokes and tried to act extra silly to warm them up. No success. They were not fans of the heat. The adults looked nervously at each other. No one wants a failed photo shoot. I assured them it would be okay, and we kept going.

I put my energy into the adults. The more they loosened up and had fun, the more the kids did. It was contagious. The happiness and fun was spilling over. The kids started sharing in the magic that was happening. The more one family enjoyed themselves the more it amplified. Love grew. Joy overflowed. Memories were made. Family heirloom photographs were created.

Y’all, my heart is so full. I LOVE getting to do what I do. Photography is my favorite form of art, because it captures the souls of people. This family was beautiful!

It was an absolute honor working with them. They were so full of personality and life. I pray these images will be a treasure for the coming years. I pray they see the love they have between them. I pray they remember their shared laughs- not their tears. I pray that joy will bind them together. What a beautiful legacy it will be!

Newborn Session | Redemption Square Studio

They came through the door with the car seat in tow. They looked at each other smiling holding their dearest treasure between them. Their newborn son was perfect. His tiny pink fingers wrapped around his soft blanket, and he slept peacefully unaware of everything going on around him. Sleeping like a baby. No, sleeping like an angel was more appropriate. We all joked about how well he was sleeping now knowing that the coming night would be a different story.

How is it that newborns are always so peaceful when you can’t sleep but become the opposite when you can? It’s how cute they are that makes you forgive everything. You want to treasure every single moment, even when they are loud, because you know they will grow. You can’t protect them forever, but you can protect them now. You hold them when a thousand others things need to be done, because you know this is the only thing that should be done. It is worth it. Zero regrets.

Babies are funny, precious little beings. They have a timeline that is all their own, and you just let them run the show for a little while. When you are this cute, you can get away with anything. They do. ;)

I laughed with Amber and Zach. We almost didn’t get their maternity photos done in time. Days later and it would have been too late. We did them, and they were the stuff dreams are made of. Love, joy, and expectation. It made this newborn shoot all the more special.

Baby David couldn’t have been a better model. He slept the entire time! I’m in love with him already. I know you will be too. I blame him completely if you get baby fever. When you do, bring them to me, so I can enjoy them too. :)
